On Kelley Blue Book (www.kbb.com), you can work out the value of a used truck by first selecting its make, model and year. You can then narrow the search by choosing the type of vehicle. If no other information is known, it is recommended that you choose “Pickup” as the type first. Kelley Blue Book will then return with a series of prices. These prices will be different depending upon the condition of the truck, its mileage, features and method of sale (i.e. dealer or private party).

You can find out the value of your truck by visiting Kelly Blue Book and filling out some basic information. This is an incredibly easy process; it will take you only a few minutes to complete.

Getting Your Truck Valued

There are a few simple steps. First, visit the relevant “Used Truck” Section on Kelly Blue Book (www.kbb.com/used-pickup-truck). Then second the make of your truck. For example, if you have a Cadillac truck, select “Cadillac.” You’ll then be asked to select the relevant model of the truck, the year, and then the style. Kelly Blue Book will also ask for you to insert the mileage of the truck, and then provide you with a series of extra options to review.

You can select options relating to the engine size, transmission type and traction control. Other options include dual air bags, DVD systems, power steering and power seats. You will see that some of these options will already be checked, and you can uncheck as necessary. Finally, choose the colour of the truck and then, at the bottom of the page, select the “Choose Price Type” button.

The value of a truck can change depending upon how it is sold. Kelly Blue Book will give you three options: Buy from a Dealer, Buy Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) from a Dealer, and Buy from a Private Party. For each option, you will have to make a selection regarding the truck’s condition. For example, if you choose the “Buy from a Private Party” option, you can identify the truck’s condition as “Excellent,” “Very Good,” “Good, “Fair,” or “Poor.” You will not have this same level of discretion if you select one of the other options.

In this part of the process, it is important that you read through the descriptions of condition very carefully and answer honestly. When you’ve found the most fitting description, click the “Get Used Car Price” button to the side.
